PM CEMS Calibrations and Audits

The EPA approved QAG 820 has been performing annual relative accuracy test audits (RATA) of the Xact 640 Multi-Metal CEMS for the past five years. Our experience producing an accurate and stable metals aerosol concentration has been utilized to create the PM QAG technology to calibrate and audit particulate matter monitors (PM CEMS).

Recently several state and local regulatory enforcement agencies have begun to require the use of PM CEMS on power generation facilities. The objective of the PM QAG is to provide PM CEMS manufactures and operators with a user-friendly method of calibrate and auditing their instruments. The PM QAG completes this task by producing a dynamic spiking range between 0 and 30 mg/m³. This capability will dramatically reduce the costs and difficulty associated with performing a PS-11 by avoiding the purchase of high ash fuels and/or avoiding plant control modifications to produce the high PM concentration.

If you’re interested in reducing the annual operating costs of your PM CEMS and simplifying the QA/QC protocols to complete your RCA’s give us a call. We would be happy to discuss the PM QAG with you and outline the process for your PM CEMS.
